These terms cover this website, the podcast, the newsletter and the State of AI census. Using the Qualy product or paying through Qualy is a separate agreement: Qualy’s terms and conditions govern that.

Listen, read, link, and quote us. Quoting an episode, an article or a figure from the census is welcome with attribution to The Brief: International Education Edition and a link to the page you took it from. Figures from the census keep their base — a percentage without the number of people behind it is not a finding.

What needs our permission: republishing an episode or a page in full, hosting our audio somewhere else, using our name or marks to suggest we endorse something, and training a model on this site as a dataset. Ask at hello@qualyhq.com; we say yes more often than not.

Guests speak for themselves. An episode is a conversation, not advice, and not a statement of our position.

Taking part is voluntary and unpaid. You can stop at any point; what you have already completed still counts, and you can ask us to delete it.

What we ask of you:

• answer honestly, about yourself and about the organisation you work in;
• answer once. One response per person, and invitation links are personal — passing one on means your colleague answers as you, which costs us a response and costs you your own results;
• do not automate it, and do not manufacture referrals. Responses that look automated are flagged and excluded, and the referrals with them.

What we promise in return: your individual answers stay with us, no cut is published below ten people, respondents get the results before anyone else, and the rules for analysing the data were published before fielding began on the methodology page.

By answering you allow us to publish your answers as part of aggregate figures, indefinitely and in any language. Free-text answers are different: we quote one only with your permission, or with everything that could identify you or your organisation removed.

The personal benchmark and score we show you are a description of your answers against other people’s. They are not a certification, an audit, or advice about what your organisation should do next.

The census has a sponsor and supporters, and associations and networks who invite their members. None of them sees an individual answer, and none of them has any say in the questions, the analysis or the findings. A partner sees whether its members started and finished, and an aggregate cut of its own members subject to the same minimum sample as everything else.

Money from a sponsor pays for running the census. It does not buy a result, a framing, or sight of the data early.

We email you when you ask us to: new episodes, census results if you asked for them, and short quarterly pulse surveys if you ticked that box. Every message can be unsubscribed from, and unsubscribing from one kind does not silently sign you up to another. See the privacy notice for what we store.

The site, the podcast and the census results are provided as they are. We put real work into being accurate and we correct mistakes on the page when we find them, but nothing here is legal, financial, immigration or business advice, and decisions you take on the strength of it are yours.

We do not promise the site is always available, and we may change or withdraw any part of it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit or lost data, arising from using this site or taking part in the census. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited.

Estonian law applies and the courts of Estonia have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.

When these terms change, the version and date at the top change with them. Continuing to use the site after that means the new version applies; it does not change the terms your census response was given under.
